Clwb Hamdden Leisure Club members met on March 12 at Bancffosfelen and Crwbin Hall for their monthly gathering. Chairman Ann Langabeer extended sympathy to club members Jean Lewis and Edna Breed on the sad loss of their brother Vivian Wilkins. Best wishes were sent to Ken Bowen, who is a patient at Prince Philip Hospital. The club’s first day trip of the season was confirmed. The meeting continued with cawl and caws in celebration of St David’s Day; once again an excellent meal was provided by Gegin Fach Y Wlad. A vote of thanks was given by the chairman. Members were reminded the meeting for Tuesday, April 9, begins at 6pm. The guest speaker then will be Owain Williams talking about ‘Behind Bars’. New members always welcome.

Car boot sales These continue on Saturday, April 6, weather permitting, at the harbour field, Burry Port at £5 per car. Vans, cars with trailers, camper vans and people carriers £8. Large vans and trade sellers £15. No more than two tables or additional tables are £2 each. No reservation of pitches as they are on a first come, first served basis. Please do not set up or arrive before 7am for the benefit of volunteers and nearby houses. Please remove all unsold items and litter before you leave. Litter pick The Pembrey and Burry Port Grab and Bag volunteer group will be meeting at Y Graig by the Farmers Arms pub (now closed) SN 446 015 on Friday, April 12, from 10am to noon. All equipment is provided but please be sure to bring a pair of gloves. As well as cleaning up our local areas volunteers can also sign up to receive time credits. Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care The Pembrey and Burry Port friends have a Meet with Us group on the first Tuesday of the month from 6.30-7.30pm in Pembrey Church Hall, Randell Square, Pembrey. Come along and meet our friends group for a cuppa, a chat and maybe join our volunteer list and help us put the fun in fundraising. Refreshments and a raffle available. Dads’ group Only Men Allowed dads’ group with staff member Ken every Wednesday from 1-3pm at the Burry Port Family Centre in the old junior school, Stepney Road, Burry Port.
