BONT CUT GAP AT THE SUMMIT

SECONDPLACED Pontyberem cut Matchroom Reds’ lead at the top of the Llanelli Snooker League first division to six points after a fine 5-2 win at Snooker World thanks to Emyr Bowen (32 break), Kevin Selwood, Kieran Evans and Karl Goble.

Chris Waters (31) and John Meadows replied for the Ammanford outfit.

Thomas Williams and Paul Thomas were Matchroom Reds’ winning duo in a surprise 5-2 loss at lowly Burry Port Legion, for whom Rich Evans, Keri Phillips, Dean Thomas and James White struck.

Carl Thomas, Mike Lloyd and Mark Foreman edged a 4-3 win for Trimsaran A against Reading Room Reds. Adrian Gower, Phil Payne and Tony Redmond won for Clwb Bach.

Matthew Donald was struggling New Lodge A’s only frame-winner in a 6-1 reverse at Llandybie Social A, whose points came from Geraint Rees, Huw Morgan, Roger Morgan, Tim Walters and Peter Howatson.

E. Rees, Mark Hughes, Joe Evans and Chris Bishop gave Upper Tumble Blues a 5-2 victory at Reading Room Blues. Leighton Jones and Chris Howells hit back for the Burry Porters.

Chris Davies and Leighton Davies helped Matchroom Whites nick the aggregate as they went down 4-3 against Gorseinon Workmen’s A. Keith Murrell, Mike Davies, Johnny Wilcox and Luke Murrell won for the Brighton Road side.

Morfa were 5-2 winners at Llanelli Cons A thanks to Greg Davies, Gavin Lewis, Rob Hughes and Nick Hughes. Mike Rees and Gavin Quinnell replied.

In division two, Cross Hands B lead the way by 10 points after a 5-2 success against Pontarddul­ais Workmen’s B courtesy of Jeff Jones, Dai Isaac, Adrian Phillips and Alex Dickie, who knocked in a fine 61 break. Jordan Dubesky and Peter Hopkins hit back for the Bont side.

Ponthenri Social also won well, 6-1 against Calsonic Rivals, for whom Marley Davies’s win prevented a whitewash. Alun James (38), Craig Howells, Craig Chandler, Stephen Rees and Nigel Lewis all won for the home side.

Llanesco stay third after edging a 4-3 win against Bryn & Trallwm, while Llanelli Cons B secured a 4-3 victory at Tycroes RFC B.

Steve Pearson and Howard Wood contribute­d frame wins for Llandybie Social B, beaten 5-2 at Upper Tumble Reds, and CGMD won 4-3 against Great Mountain, Tumble.

Llandybie RFC were 7-0 winners against Cross Hands A, Dar Sigsworth, Richard Davies, Dylan Jones, Sion Isaac, Liam McGhee and Mark Hughes all on song.

It was the same story at New Lodge B, who hammered visiting Pontarddul­ais Cons 7-0 thanks to wins from Stuart Thomas, Phil Thickett, Roy Morgan, George Langford, Terry Morgan and Paul Jones.
