Ranger win for captain

A TOTAL of 60 seniors at Carmarthen Golf Club played in a Lone Ranger tournament.

Each player takes it in turn to be the lone ranger, with his score and one other to count on each hole.

With the course in outstanding condition and greens running fast, the scores were very competitive and coming out on top were seniors captain Rhodri Davies partnered by Robert Thomas and Selwyn Humphries, winning courtesy of a better back nine with 80 points from Ian Griffiths, Jim Crawford and Hywel Morris.

In third were Peter Williams, Tony Jones and Mike Davies with 79.

The excellent greens threw up more than the usual twos, with birdies scored on the ninth by Gerwyn Davies, Bill Hunter, Hywel Morris, Alan James and Fred Steel, on the 13th by Clive Harrison and Ian Ritchie, and on the 15th by Roger Mitchell.
