Classy Ammanford youngsters shine with twin success

Llanelli Star - - SPORT -

AMMANFORD Town Under-15s continued their fine form with a 5-1 defeat of Loughor in the Carmarthenshire Junior League.

The visitors started well and were awarded a free-kick just outside the box. And while Kieran Brook saved the effort, the follow-up was scrambled into the net.

Ammanford moved up a gear and it wasn’t long before Scott Pugh linked with Harry G, who put away the first of his three goals.

Ammanford continued to press and were awarded a penalty after some fine work by Rhydian Davies. Up stepped Kellen Edwards, who made no mistake with his spot-kick.

A couple of fine saves by Brook kept Ammanford in front before the break.

Town constantly looked a threat after the interval and were awarded a free-kick just outside the box. Osian Davies guided his left-foot shot into the top corner to extend the advantage.

It was only a matter of time before the hosts struck again, with Harry G bagging two more goals to complete his hat-trick.

The victory came hot on the heels of an equally impressive 8-1 win over Pwll in midweek.

Ammanford made an explosive start and were denied by the post three times in the first five minutes, but it was Pwll who opened the scoring after an Ammanford mistake at the back.

Town soon equalised from an 18yard strike from Callum Thomas, and when Scott Pugh was bundled over in the area, Kellen Edwards belted home the spot-kick to make it 2-1.

An Osian Davies corner was headed home by Iestyn Richards to make it 3-1 at half-time.

Ammanford were in control after the break and two assists from Rhydian Davies helped Harri Thomas and Harrison Griffiths get on the scoresheet.

Cian Williams was next to assist the influential Griffiths, who went on to complete his hat-trick.

The goal of the game came at the end when Evan Harrow stepped inside two would-be tacklers before unleashing a rocket into the net.
