DYFED-POWYS Police are appealing for witnesses to an alleged sexual assault from 24 years ago.

The alleged incident took place in 1995 in a nightclub in Llanelli, but was only reported to the police in February last year.

Police said it was thought that the victim might have had a substance placed in their drink.

Despite the length of time that’s passed, they are hoping to hear from witnesses who could have seen something suspicious in the club – the former Moonraker in Market Street.

A spokeswoman for the police said: “Llanelli police are investigating a sexual assault allegation dating back to spring/ summer of 1995 and are appealing for information. The allegation was received by police in February, 2018.

“The male victim visited the Moonraker Nightclub, Market Street, Llanelli, where he met the unknown male suspect.

“It is believed that the suspect placed a substance into the drink of the victim and it is reported that a witness may have seen this.

“The victim alleges that he was assaulted outside of the nightclub by the male suspect and dragged into a taxi.

“The suspect is described as a white male with fair-coloured skin, 5ft 8ins or 5ft 9in, with a chubby face, curly ginger hair, curly beard, barrel chested, heavy set, no glasses, aged 30 to 40 years old at the time of the incident in 1995.”

She added: “A number of inquiries have been completed and police are now asking for the public’s help.

“Any witnesses who may have seen or heard the incident and in particular door staff, taxi drivers and the male witness who saw the substance being placed into the victim’s drink is asked to contact Llanelli police.”
