Library Easter egg hunt Today Pontyberem Library hosts a children’s Easter egg hunt and again on Wednesday, April 17: mini chocolate eggs to be won. On Wednesday, April 25, there will be an Easter crafts day. All welcome. Opening times Mondays 10am to noon; Wednesdays 10am to 1pm and 4pm to 7pm.

Vicar to retire After four years’ service St John’s Church vicar, the Rev Cecilia Charles, is to retire after the Easter Sunday service on April 21. Cecilia has been been responsible for Anglican parishoners in Pontyberem, Bancffosfelen, Pontyates and Pont Henry. Having reached retirement age Cecilia is to move to Carmarthen. It is understood her eventual successor will be based at St Mary’s, Pontyates. Speeding concerns Councillor Richard Selwood has taken up the concerns of dwellers along Furnace Terrace who have long been concerned with drivers who speed along the residential road. Speaking at the last community council meeting he stressed the dangers and the attempts he had made to engage the county council to take urgent remedial action.
