AN ARRESTING PROPOSITION

THE former HQ of the Met Police is set to be a place to escape to rather than from. It opens later this year as The Great Scotland Yard Hotel, the UK’s first Hyatt Unbound hotel after a £110million refurb.

Behind the restored elegant Edwardian facade of the five-star seven-storey property are 153 rooms, including 11 suites, some with terraces looking out at Buckingham Palace, Nelson’s Column and Westminster.

Basement cells, where it’s said Rudolf Hess, Deputy Führer to Adolf Hitler, was interrogated, have been transformed into a gym, ballroom and VIP rooms. Room rates to be announced.

SUITE DEAL WITH UNIVERSAL

FAMILIES will welcome the launch on June 27 of Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Surfside Inn and Suites, which claims to offer the lowest rates of all of its Orlando Resort hotels.

Standard rooms sleep four and two-bedroom suites sleep six, complete with a kitchenette and dining area.

Guests enjoy added benefits including early Park admission and complimentary shuttle service.

Sister hotel, Dockside Inn and Suites is due to open in May 2020. Standard rooms will start from £64.50 and two-bedroom suites from £99.50 per night (min stay four nights).
