Celebratio­n for young Quins

THERE was much to celebrate for Carmarthen Quins’ junior section as cup action took centre stage.

The under-12s faced local rivals Carmarthen Athletic in the Carmarthen­shire Cup final. And in glorious conditions the young Quins turned in a workmanlik­e performanc­e to claim an excellent 15-5 victory.

Next up were the under-13s, who were up against it as they faced their bogey side Burry Port.

In a heart-stopping game

Carmarthen Quins Under-12s. that went to the wire, the Quins claimed the cup at the death with a match-winning kick.

But Burry Port claimed revenge in the under-14s final as they emerged 24-15 winners in a game that entertaine­d the neutrals.

Finally, the girls’ under-18 team hosted arguably the best team in Wales when Cardiff Quins came to town for a cup quarter-final. In a highly entertaini­ng and spirited encounter they just fell short 24-15. Carmarthen Quins Under-13s beat Burry Port. The team go on to Parc y Scarlets in the Scarlets Cup in May.
