Llanelli Star

Successful launch

-

THANKS to the Star for the feature on Stradey Sospans girls rugby team last week (Page 18).

Heartfelt thanks also go to our Hub Leadership, coaches, committee and sponsors for their contributions that resulted in an immensely successful launch night with more than 100 girls and young women taking part.

As we look forward to the new season with excitement, we are extremely grateful for all the support we receive. Diolch am eich cefnogaeth

Our plan is to encourage more girls to experience playing rugby, increasing their physical activity, learn new skills, make new friends with the additional benefit of joining “a big friendly rugby family”.

The launch evening was summed up perfectly by Lowri, one our Sospans.

During a press interview, she advised other young girls to “just get off your phones”.

This is what it’s about; we want to increase girls and young people’s physical activity, not only for the immediate benefit but also for the future benefit.

The evening was recorded by the S4C magazine programme Heno so the girls should be featured on television shortly.

Some of our supporters made Welsh cakes for the occasion and they look to be a regular feature for our gatherings.

On a personal note, I am a newcomer to this. At the launch night you could not fail to feel the buzz, smiles everywhere,. truly outstanding.

Nigel Bevan, Stradey Sospans

Editor’s note: Apologies to Mr Bevan. We spelt his name incorrectly in last week’s Star.
