Backing for AM
WELSH Assembly Member Lee Waters has received the backing of the Llanelli Constituency Labour Party to fight the next Assembly election in 2021.
Mr Waters, a Deputy Minister in the Welsh Government, won the Llanelli constituency against expectations in 2016. In an election which saw a 7.6% swing against the Labour Party across Wales, Mr Waters saw a 5% swing to Labour in Llanelli to win the seat for the second consecutive election.
Mr Waters said: “I’m pleased to get the endorsement of Labour Party members across the Llanelli constituency. The reason I stood for election three years ago was to roll up my sleeves to try and make devolution work for Wales, and for the area I grew up in particular.”
