Wan­der­ers ready for new start

CAR­MARTHEN Wan­der­ers start their sea­son on Satur­day with an away friendly against Aber­gavenny.

The fol­low­ing day they en­ter­tain Bre­con at Trin­ity Fields with a 1.30pm start.

The fol­low­ing week they host Llandy­sul and are away to Am­man­ford on Sun­day, April 28.

The South Wales Premier League 2 sea­son starts on May 4 with an away fix­ture at Ynysygerwn. The sec­onds en­ter­tain their coun­ter­parts at Trin­ity Fields.

Gareth Thomas will cap­tain the first team. He takes over from Leighton Wal­ters, who en­joyed seven suc­cess­ful sea­sons at the helm, in­clud­ing win­ning the SWCA Cup in 2017. Owain Bind­ing is his vice-cap­tain. Ian Tay­lor starts his sec­ond sea­son as cap­tain of the sec­onds with the side set to con­tain sev­eral promis­ing ju­nior play­ers.

New re­cruits for 2019 are Pem­brokeshire County play­ers Iestyn Scourfield and Nathan Ban­ner, to­gether with for­mer Llandy­sul cap­tain Dar­ryl Grif­fiths and Wales Un­der-15 spin­ner Owen Bai­ley.

The Wan­der­ers en­ter­tain Cly­dach in the SWCA Cup on June 16.
