EN­TER­ING the fi­nal furlong of the Llanelli Snooker League sea­son, ta­ble-top­pers Match­room Reds have one hand on the tro­phy.

They en­joy a healthy lead af­ter a 5-2 win at Pon­tard­du­lais Work­men’s A. Lewis Grey (52 break), Paul Thomas (44), Phil Wil­liams (44) and Frank El­lis were on top for the in-form Reds. Adam Grif­fiths and Matt Jones hit back for Bont.

Kieren Evans, Alun Har­ris and Paul Rees edged a 4-3 win for Pon­ty­berem Work­men’s at Trim­saran A, who hit back via Lee Hol­land (33), Mike Lloyd and Carl Thomas. K. Proctor (30) and Luke Lloyd (33) chalked up de­cent breaks in de­feat.

Morfa were 5-2 winners at Burry Port Le­gion thanks to Barry Fol­lows, Greg Davies, Nicky Hughes and Scott Ash­ford (34).

Le­gion’s points came via James White and Keri Phillips.

Matthew Don­ald’s sole frame win at least averted the white­wash as New Lodge A crashed 6-1 at Read­ing Room Blues. Pe­ter Kelly, Colin Fore­man, Leighton Jones, Neil Roberts and Chris How­ells struck for Clwb Bach.

Snooker World, for whom Chris Wa­ters, An­drew Whit­field and An­thony Krysa won, edged an ag­gre­gate 4-3 vic­tory against Gor­seinon Work­men’s A. Mike Davies and the two Mur­rells – Keith and Luke – were on top for the Brighton Road side.

Tyler Rees, Dai Roberts and Leighton Davies edged Match­room Whites home 4-3 at the ex­pense of Llandy­bie So­cial A. Lyn­d­sey Pugh, Tim Wal­ters and Huw Mor­gan struck for the lat­ter.

Dean Bowen was Llanelli Cons A’s sole frame-win­ner in a 6-1 re­ver­sal against Up­per Tumble Blues, whose points were from Mark Hughes, Chris Rees, El­liott Rees, James Bradley and Car­marthen Ath­letic Un­der-16s are pictured cel­e­brat­ing their 20-8 Car­marthen­shire Cup win against Bynea. The team are look­ing for­ward to Re­gional Fi­nals Day at Parc y Scar­lets on May 12. Nicki Wal­ters.

Alex Dickie and Mal Jones won as divi­sion two lead­ers Cross Hands B came un­stuck 5-2 to vis­it­ing Llanelli Cons B, whose win­ning quar­tet were Viv Roach, G. Ed­wards, Gary Hunt and Paul An­gelone.

Pon­thenri So­cial nar­rowed the gap af­ter a 6-1 suc­cess against four-man Pont Cons thanks to the ef­forts of Alun James, Craig Chandler and Jeff How­ells.

Cross Hands A won 5-2 at Llandy­bie So­cial B and Llandy­bie RFC ham­mered Great Moun­tain, Tumble 7-0. Dy­lan Jones, Mark Hughes, Richard Davies, Sion Isaac, Liam McGhee and Dar Sigsworth com­pleted the rout.

Llanesco were con­vinc­ing 6-1 winners against Ty­croes RFC B, while Cal­sonic Ri­vals came un­stuck, los­ing 5-2 on their trip to Up­per Tumble Reds.

Pon­tard­du­lais Work­men’s B were grate­ful to Chris Grif­fiths, Jor­dan Dubesky, Pe­ter Hop­kins and Danny Carr, winners in a 5-2 suc­cess at New Lodge B, for whom Leighton Cole and Paul Jones were on the ball.

CGMD claimed their best win of a sticky sea­son, a 7-0 trounc­ing of Bryn, thanks to Mike Dance, Brian Chap­pel, Wyn Llewe­lyn, Mikey Hop­kins, Lyn Hop­kins and Ray­mond Evans.

Pon­tard­du­lais Work­men’s B claimed the first sil­ver­ware of the sea­son, beat­ing Llanesco 4-3 in the seven-man Wor­thing­ton Cup fi­nal. Pe­ter Hop­kins, Lee O’Neill, Jor­dan Dubesky and Gethin Daniel edged them home.

Mean­while, in the Heineken Sin­gles, Tyler Rees and Phil Wil­liams face each other in the fi­nal af­ter 2-0 and 2-1 wins against Keith Mur­rell and Kieran Evans in their semi-fi­nals.
