THE sun returned as Carmarthen Golf Club seniors played their first match at Ashburnham.
And following some solid golf under vice-captain Huw Rees, they managed an excellent 5-3 win.
Elwyn Morgan and George Laidlaw claimed an outstanding 5&3 victory, while there were 1up wins for Norman Edwards and Hywel Morris, Ken Gealy and Jim Crawford and Mick Fenney and Peter Jones.
There were halves for Fred Steel and Bruce Morris and Gary Evans and Haydn Harries. Huw Rees and Nick Ingram and Tony Jones and Huw Michael tasted defeat.
The remaining seniors played in a Waltz competition, and the comfortable winners with an outstanding 88 stableford points were Len Davies, Alan Williams and Clive Thomas.
Runners-up were Mervyn Lewis, Paul Bennett and Martin Phillips with 80 points, and they were three clear of Tim Harries, Stuart Barclay and Clive Harrison.
