Broken bollards Some months ago the county council was informed that a bollard on the island of the bus bay on Heol Cwmmawr had been broken and left lying on the road. Last week it was observed that another bollard at the top of the bus bay had been broken and was lying on the road. Local residents have put the blame on random parking in the bus bay, especially when there is a daytime event in Neuadd Y Gwendraeth. Cars have been seen to park on the island itself. Villagers have been pleased to see that part of the former Ysgol Y Gwendraeth is being used since the school closed some years ago, but keep questioning the longer term future for the school site.

Cinema Cross Hands Cinema will be closed on Friday, Monday and Tuesday. It will re-open on Friday, April 26 when the film showing will be Fisherman’s Friends (cert 12A). Middleton Memories To celebrate National and Local Community History month, the Regency Restoration Project, in collaboration with People’s Collection Wales, is hosting Middleton Memories every Wednesday in May at the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Did your grandparent live or work on the estate? Are you a former volunteer? Do you have any old photographs of the estate? If you have any stories or family tales about the estate, please come along and share them. Each person who submits a memory will be given a discount voucher for the garden’s restaurant. The dates are May 8, 15, 22, and 29. All sessions will take place in the Oriel Yr Ardd Gallery. June 12 will be the opening day of the exhibition and all those who submit memories will be invited to the opening.
