Family runners enjoy some fun in the sun

FOURTEEN YEAR OLD Archie Dilks brought home a surprise bronze medal from Cyprus when he took part in a triathlon there.

Holidaying with his parents, both members of St Clears-based Taf Running and Orienteering Team (TROTs), Archie and his father Jim took part in the Ocean Lava Triathlon in Paphos.

Archie placed third in the junior race and finished three minutes ahead of his father, who was using the race as preparation for Ironman Wales in Tenby later this year.

Meanwhile, TROTs club coach Aled Jones-Davies led nine of his clubmates home in the Teifi Ten mile race in Lampeter, finishing 11th in 64 minutes 40 seconds.

Half a minute and two places behind him, Kevin Griffiths won the M50 category.

Also completing the race were fellow TROTS Vincent Bailey 29th; Steve Dawson 33rd; Julian Lewis 37th; Lindy Eynon (2nd F45) 45th; Kevin Jenkins 47th; Keith Powell 67th; Mair Morgan 102nd; and Sally Martin 105th.
