Meirion is easy winner
THE weather was unkind for the first official competition of the season for Carmarthen Golf Club’s seniors.
Following a sunny, warm few days, it was cold and windy for the Bill Naylor Salver 1.
The competition was split into three divisions, but there could only be one winner of the salver and he came from division one (0-16), and with an outstanding 43 points it was Meirion Griffiths.
Tim Harries was second with 35 points, and Clive Harrison took third on countback with 34 from Clive Thomas.
The only player to get near Griffiths was Graham Williams in division two (17-20) with an equally impressive 41 points, followed by Robert Thomas with 38 and Dai Elias with 36.
In division three, the winner with 35 points was Ryan Bowen, while George Laidlaw and Keith Lewis claimed second and third.
Twos were recorded by Clive Thomas, Clive Harrison, Ray Skinner, Ian Ritchie and Hywel Morris.
