LEADERS HIT BY SURPRISE LOSS

LLANELLI Snooker League leaders Matchroom Reds suffered a surprise 5-2 defeat at struggling Reading Room Reds.

Lewis Grey made a break of 47 for the Reds and Paul Thomas also struck. Phil Payne, Meirion Jones, Tony Redmond and Adrian Gower boosted the Burry Port side’s survival hopes.

Bottom side New Lodge A look in deep trouble after a 5-2 loss at Matchroom Whites, whose winning quartet were Dai Keenan, Dai Roberts, Tom Twigg and Neil Davies. Adrian Dix and Matthew Donald won for Lodge.

Burry Port Legion earned a vital 5-2 victory against Upper Tumble Blues courtesy of Keri Phillips, Garnet Lane, Rob Davies and James White, who made a 37 break, then cleared the table with a 58 for good measure.

James Bradley and Chris Rees replied.

Llanelli Cons A also gained an important 5-2 win, with Mike Rees, Hefyn Jones, Gavin Quinnell and Dean Bowen on the ball against Reading Room Blues. Craig Jones and James Ellis won for the visitors.

Gorseinon Workmen’s were thumping 7-0 winners on their visit to Trimsaran. Luke Murrell, Johnny Wilcox, Ed Williams, Keith Murrell, Mike Dodd and Tudor Lloyd completed the rout.

Dai Luce, Alan Jones, Lindon Cox and Steve Gibbins earned Snooker World a 5-2 win against Llandybie Social A. Andrew Whitfield made a 42 break with Roger Morgan and Tim Walters on song for Llan.

Ponthenri Social are the new leaders in division two after they beat Pontarddul­ais Workmen’s B 6-1 courtesy of Alun James, Jeff Howells, Craig Chandler and Stephen Rees. Just Jordan Dubesky won for Bont.

Cross Hands B slipped to second despite a 4-3 win at New Lodge B, where Alex Dickie, Adrian Phillips and Gary Stead helped nick the aggregate by a mere five points. George Langford, Phil Thickett and Roy Morgan won for Lodge.

Llanesco defeated Llanelli Cons B 5-2 and Pont Cons went down 4-3 at Upper Tumble Reds.

Wynford Morgan and Peter Watkins helped Llandybie Social B earn a 4-3 victory against Great Mountain, Tumble, whose winning trio were Greg James, Shaun Lewis and Jamie Gimblett.

Howell Pritchard’s frame win averted the whitewash as Cross Hands A went down 6-1 to Calsonic Rivals. For the latter, Luke Powell, Aaron Cruickshan­k, Luke Williams, Meirion Richards and James Anthony did the business.

Glanamman side CGMD were 5-2 winners against Tycroes RFC B, while Richard Davies, Sion Isaac and Liam McGhee were on song for Llandybie RFC, 4-3 winners against Bryn & Trallwm.
