A NEW drive-thru Burger King restaurant has been opened at Parc Trostre in Llanelli in an investment creating 40 jobs.

The new-build restaurant was constructed for the franchisee, Swanseabased Unionburger, on a 0.3-acre site adjacent to one of the entrances to the park from Heol Trostre.

It is Unionburger’s seventh drive-thru in Wales, following a Burger King drive-thru which opened on Newport Leisure Park in July last year.

Huw Thomas, director of retail and leisure at Cooke & Arkwright, who acquired the site from M&G Real Estate on behalf of Unionburger said: “This is Unionburger’s 11th restaurant in Wales and we are delighted to have secured this prominent site in Parc Trostre on their behalf.

“The strategic location for the drive-thru has been carefully selected so that Burger King is well positioned to cater for visitors as they enter and leave the retail park.

“Unionburger continues to grow its business in the region through the Burger King franchise. Another drive-thru is currently being built in Barry for Unionburger and we are actively looking for other new sites in South Wales and the Borders areas.”

Unionburger was established in Swansea in 1983 and director Chris Baker said: “We are delighted with the location for our new purpose-built restaurant.

“The Burger King drivethru in Newport Leisure Park has proved a great success and a boost to our portfolio in South Wales.

“We continue to review further locations for their suitability and with the aim being to secure further new sites as time evolves.”

Stephen Gwilliam, director of asset Management at M&G Real Estate said, “Unionburger’s new Burger King drive-thru is a welcome addition to our tenant line-up at Parc Trostre.

“It will further enhance the offering to the 90,000plus visitors which the park welcomes each week.”

Retail anchors at the 450,000 sq ft park include M&S, Primark, Next, New Look, River Island, H&M, Asda Living, TK Max, B&Q, Tesco Extra and Debenhams.

As well as Parc Trostre, M&G Real Estate’s portfolio of shopping centres includes investments in Bluewater, Cribbs Causeway and Manchester Arndale.

M&G Real Estate were represented by Stockford Andersen and McMullen Wilson.
