CHILDREN’S book of the week
RHS LET’S GET GARDENING
DK, £9.99 (ebook £4.99).
★★★★ ★
THIS book covers all bases, whether your little ones are interested in designing their own mini nature reserve, or would rather grow their own blueberries to scoff.
It combines lots of practical, hands-on activities to get stuck into – like how to grow nasturtiums in egg shells and succulents in wine corks – with a positive environmental message, plus stacks of information on everything from which plants smell the best, to which flowers and herbs will make the bees happiest.
It’s smart too. After all, did you know how to create a butterfly feeder out of an overripe banana? Or a ladybird sanctuary out of corrugated card?
While it features 30 gardening projects aimed at children, no doubt the grown-ups will be getting involved too.
