Still no joy for Rhodri as wait for first win goes on

Llanelli Star - - SPORT -

CARMARTHEN Golf Club Seniors visited the Mond Golf Club in Clydach for their latest fixture.

Captain Rhodri Davies, partnered by George Laidlaw, again struggled to get his first win, losing 5&4. It was the same story for vice-captain Huw Rees and partner Gary Evans, who lost 3&2.

The rest of the team very nearly came to their rescue: there were wins for Ken Gealy & Ray Sinden 5&3, Norman Edwards & Hywel Morris 3&1, Fred Steel & Ian Ritchie 4&3; halves were recorded by Mick Fenney & Peter Jones and Tony Jones & Jim Crawford, but Charlie Maliphant & Danny O’Sullivan lost 2&1, meaning that the overall match score was 4-4.

The rest of the seniors took part in a fourball better ball competition, and it was the pair of Stuart Barclay & Simon Barrett with 44 points who took the spoils. This put them one point ahead of Alan Williams & Len Davies, who were one point ahead of Adrian Thomas & Keith Lewis.

This week the Seniors welcome Glynhir to Carmarthen. While the team play Glynhir, the remainder will play in a Lone Ranger competition.
