THE relegation pic­ture be­came clear on the last night of the Llanelli and Dis­trict Snooker League sea­son, with New Lodge A rel­e­gated from di­vi­sion one af­ter only man­ag­ing a 5-2 loss against Match­room Reds.

Adrian Dix and Michael Wood won frames, but the cham­pi­ons hit back, with Thomas Wil­liams , Justin Thomas, Phil Wil­liams and An­drew Rosser win­ning.

Need­ing a good win to have any chance of staying up, Burry Port Read­ing Room Reds crashed 7-0 on their trip to Pon­ty­berem Work­men’s, who clinched the run­ners-up spot af­ter Kieren Evans (56 break), Alun Har­ris, Kevin Sel­wood, Paul Rees, Emyr Bowen and Karl Goble all won.

It meant Llanelli Cons A sur­vive, even af­ter a 7-0 last-night drub­bing at Match­room Whites, for whom Tom Twigg, Dai Roberts, Dai Keenan, Neil Davies, Chris Davies and Tyler Rees were all on the ball.

Burry Port Le­gion are also safe de­spite los­ing 4-3 at Llandy­bie So­cial A where James White, Gar­net Lane and Rich Evans won.

Llandy­bie’s points came from Huw Mor­gan, Roger Mor­gan and Lyn­d­sey Pugh.

Trim­saran A ended their cam­paign on a pos­i­tive note with a 6-1 vic­tory at Up­per Tum­ble Blues, the high­light a fine 65 break from Trim’s Carl Thomas.

Gor­seinon Work­men’s topped the 100-point mark with a 4-3 win against Pon­tard­du­lais Work­men’s A thanks to Mike Dodd, Johnny Wil­cox and Martin Tucker. Steve Davies, Matt Jones and Dean Marston replied for the Bont side.

Snooker World also reached a cen­tury of points with a 4-3 suc­cess at Read­ing Room Blues cour­tesy of An­thony Krysa, Chris Wa­ters (34) and An­drew Whit­field (31). Chris How­ells, James El­lis and Peter Kelly won for the Burry Port cue­men.

The di­vi­sion two ti­tle went down to the wire on the last night. Pon­thenri So­cial led Cross Hands B by a point be­fore both won 6-1, so Pon­thenri claimed the crown.

Cross Hands were run­ners-up af­ter de­feat­ing CGMD thanks to wins by Adrian Phillips, Alex Dickie, Jeff Jones, Mark Davies and Mal Jones.

Craig Chan­dler, Alun James, Craig How­ells, Stephen Rees and Howard Thomas won in Pon­thenri’s 6-1 win at Ty­croes RFC B, whose only point came from Mike Davies.

Llanesco are the third pro­moted side af­ter a 5-2 win against New Lodge B, while Llandy­bie RFC just missed out de­spite a 6-1 win at Pon­tard­du­lais Work­men’s B, whose Dai Gabe made a fine 40 clear­ance break.

The rugby club’s points were from Liam McGhee, Sion Isaac, Mark Hughes and Dy­lan Jones.

Llanelli Cons B ended with an ag­gre­gate 4-3 win over Cal­sonic Ri­vals thanks to Viv Roach, Kev John and Peter Jones. Meirion Richards, Mar­ley Davies and Luke Wil­liams replied.

Bran­don Brown and Greg James chalked up wins for Great Moun­tain in the Tum­ble side’s 5-2 loss to Cross Hands A, while Geraint Thomas, Keith Wil­liams and M. Aber­straw earned Pon­tard­du­lais Cons a 5-2 suc­cess at the ex­pense of Llandy­bie So­cial, who fin­ish bot­tom.

Steve Pear­son and Howard Wood struck for the lat­ter.

Noland Allinson, Nigel Beynon and Kevin Evans earned Up­per Tum­ble Reds a nar­row 4-3 win at Bryn, whose win­ning trio were Steve Holmes (29), Clive Richards and D. Evans.

The Wor­thing­ton Cup fi­nal will be held tonight when Morfa So­cial and Llandy­bie So­cial bat­tle it out at the Llanelli Match­room, cue­ing off at 7.30pm.

Match­room Reds and Pon­thenri So­cial, cham­pi­ons of di­vi­sions one and two, clash in the Pres­i­dent’s Cup at Llanelli Con Club (7.30pm).
