Doctor cleared of intimidation
But could face retrial on 2 other charges
A DOCTOR accused of stalking and intimidation has been cleared of one count against him but a jury failed to reach verdicts on two other allegations.
Gary Lucitt, a senior obstetrician and gynaecologist registrar who had been employed at Singleton Hospital in Swansea, stood trial accused of stalking a woman after the breakdown of their yearlong relationship and also of sending her intimidating messages.
The 39-year-old, of Regalia Terrace, Llanelli, was also alleged to have sent intimidating WhatsApp messages to a witness in the trial due to be heard against him.
Lucitt denied all counts during a week-long trial at Swansea Crown Court.
Yesterday the jury found Lucitt not guilty of one count of intimidation, in respect of the alleged messages to a witness, but could not reach verdicts concerning on the stalking charge or the other intimidation charge. The case will now be re-listed to discuss the possibility of a retrial.
Lucitt, who had previously worked at Prince Philip, Glangwili and Princess of Wales hospitals, was remanded in custody by Judge Keith Thomas.
