Nominate your heroes

- Carol Bott Director of the Stroke Association in Wales

WHEN a stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Recovery is tough, but with the right specialist support and huge amounts of courage, the brain can adapt and people adapt to their new normal.

Every year, the Stroke Association hosts the UK Life After Stroke Awards to recognise and celebrate the lives of all those affected by stroke. The awards are for people who have demonstrated inspirational courage in overcoming the devastating effects of stroke. We also commend carers, volunteers, stroke clubs and groups and health professionals who are with stroke survivors every step of the way.

If you know someone who’s been inspirational to others, nominate them for a Life After Stroke Award and share their story with us. Whether they’re a stroke survivor, carer, volunteer, stroke club or group, fundraiser or a professional, nominate your stroke hero by Friday, May 24.
