Pool boys in stunning form
SPORTS followers in the lower Teifi Valley are hailing a phenomenal achievement in the Cardigan and District Pool League.
There has not been anything to compare with it in the 33-year history of the league.
The incredible feat happened in the 3-a-side semi-final between Lamb A and Red Lion as the Lamb trio of Gary Murtagh, Peter Almond and Chris Truslove emerged 5-0 winners and in the process produced four eight-ball clearances on the trot.
Few could have envisaged what was to follow after Lamb took the first game.
Murtagh started the ball rolling by clearing the table, then Almond did likewise.
That was followed by Truslove taking all eight balls, and Murtagh completed a four-timer with his second clearance.
Pool league stalwart Jamie Bowen said: “That was a bit special. Achieving one eight-ball clearance in a match is good, but four on the trot is amazing.”
