Quins young­sters claim dou­ble success

CAR­MARTHEN Quins’ ju­nior sec­tion en­joyed dou­ble success at the Re­gional Cup Fi­nals at Parc y Scar­lets.

The Un­der-12s were up first as they took on Haver­ford­west. In blaz­ing sun­shine the Quins side were steady in their play and even­tu­ally wore down a re­silient Haver­ford­west.

In a game that ebbed and flowed, it was the Quins who held their nerve to take it 12-10.

Next up were the un­der-13s, who faced Pem­broke. The Quins took the game by the scruff of the neck from the off and it was not long be­fore the score­board was tick­ing over in their favour.

To their credit, Pem­broke never gave up and man­aged to cross the Car­marthen Quins Un­der-13s. Quins line, but the Quins were not go­ing be de­nied the sil­ver­ware and fi­nally ran out win­ners 32-12.

First XV cap­tain Haydn Pugh made him­self avail­able for both Quins teams dur­ing the morn­ing.

Three Quins play­ers also fea­tured in the vic­to­ri­ous Car­marthen and Dis­trict Un­der-11s team who won the Na­tional Plate 7s in Dun­vant.

St Clears Un­der-15s be­came Scar­lets Re­gional cham­pi­ons by beat­ing Fish­guard 55-5.
