Quins youngsters claim double success

CARMARTHEN Quins’ junior section enjoyed double success at the Regional Cup Finals at Parc y Scarlets.

The Under-12s were up first as they took on Haverfordw­est. In blazing sunshine the Quins side were steady in their play and eventually wore down a resilient Haverfordw­est.

In a game that ebbed and flowed, it was the Quins who held their nerve to take it 12-10.

Next up were the under-13s, who faced Pembroke. The Quins took the game by the scruff of the neck from the off and it was not long before the scoreboard was ticking over in their favour.

To their credit, Pembroke never gave up and managed to cross the Carmarthen Quins Under-13s. Quins line, but the Quins were not going be denied the silverware and finally ran out winners 32-12.

First XV captain Haydn Pugh made himself available for both Quins teams during the morning.

Three Quins players also featured in the victorious Carmarthen and District Under-11s team who won the National Plate 7s in Dunvant.

St Clears Under-15s became Scarlets Regional champions by beating Fishguard 55-5.
