First win for Llandy­sul

LLANDY­SUL opened their ac­count in divi­sion one of the South Wales Cricket As­so­ci­a­tion with a four-wicket win over vis­i­tors Bri­ton Ferry Steel at Tir Dref.

Steel went along steadily, with opener Lloyd Cle­ment mak­ing 23 be­fore fall­ing lbw to Lly­we­lyn Hughes, while Steve Mad­docks at num­ber four con­trib­uted 49 as the vis­i­tors posted 155-7 in their al­lot­ted 50 overs.

Medium-pacer Hughes was the best of the bowlers with fig­ures of 4-23.

In re­ply, the Teifisider­s lost opener Bled­dyn Mor­gan with­out trou­bling the scor­ers but Gary Wil­liams hit four bound­aries in a breezy 47.

Ash­leigh Cox made a stylish 54, which in­cluded two fours and three sixes, and skip­per Ben Ed­kins at num­ber five was un­beaten on 32 as the tar­get was reached in 43.3 overs for the loss of six wick­ets.

Llandy­sul Sec­onds also en­joyed success with a four-wicket win at Skewen Sec­onds in divi­sion five.

The home side made 155-7 — Aled Jones took three wick­ets — and in re­ply Llandy­sul got the re­quired runs for the loss of six wick­ets.

Daniel Jones led the way with an un­beaten 48, a knock that in­cluded six bound­aries, while open­ing bats­man Huw Evans chipped in with a flu­ent 44. Dein­iol Jones made 16.
