Youth beats experience
THE seconds match between Llandeilo and Kidwelly in division seven pitted youth against experience – and youth won out as Kidwelly eased home.
Having been put in to bat by Llandeilo captain Max Munday, Kidwelly lost early wickets and there was a prospect of a low total.
But the young Kidwelly middle order, headed by the talented Zac Williams (34) and Harry Conick (50), counterattacked and put their side in a promising position.
Llandeilo managed a late rally, with Tom Prosser taking 4-45 with his leg spin, and the innings finished on 132-8, a reasonable total on a damp Cae William pitch.
Youth then trumped experience as from the start as Kidwelly ground down the Llandeilo batsmen.
Opener Clifford Johnson was run out without facing a ball, while a succession of batsmen lost their wickets to a dangerous seam attack, with Lewis Owen (4-3) particularly impressive.
Llandeilo managed to bat 23.3 overs, but their total of 34 all out will worry their followers.
