In like Flint: John a force in both codes

-

KENFIG Hill trainer John Flint has been in fine form recently, with winners under both codes.

At Worcester last week he saw Cillian’s Well win under a fine ride from jockey Daryl Jacob.

Cillian’s Well is owned by a syndicate called Belly’s Heroes. Executive director of Chepstow and Ffos Las Phil Bell is part of this syndicate and the horse is set to give them lots of fun throughout the summer.

A trainer who isn’t afraid to travel for a winner is Tim Vaughan, who on Saturday travelled from his Cowbridge base to Hexham where he saw Eva’s Oscar win under stable jockey Alan Johns. This was the yard’s first winner of the new season.

Elsewhere, Evan Williams ran his consistent John Constable in the valuable Swinton Hurdle at Haydock, a race which he won last year with Silver Streak. John Constable finished a respectable third, beaten only a few lengths.

Christian Williams sent his Midlands National winner Potters Corner to France last week to run over hurdles at Auteuil under James Bowen. The pair were badly impeded by a faller, but managed to stay together to finish fifth. Back in Britain, he was triumphant with Butlergrove King at Fakenham, who ran on gamely to finish a length clear of Kingston Mimosa.

Sean Bowen has also been in the winner’s enclosure when taking the concluding race of the day at Ludlow on Sunday for Rebecca Curtis. Cubao won the bumper on his racecourse debut and looks a nice prospect for the future, finishing a couple of lengths in front of his rivals.

The next fixture at Ffos Las is Madness Live After Racing on May 25. There are seven jump races followed by a performance from the iconic band. There are limited hospitality options remaining, including the House of Fun package which includes admission ticket, seat for the day, racecard, hog roast, drink on arrival and a £2 placepot bet. This hospitality option is located in the Winning Line Marquee Village. There are also a few general admission tickets left for this event. For more information visit Ffos Las’s website or ring 01554 811092.
