Skipper Davies finally brings his losing run to an end

-

CARMARTHEN Golf Club Seniors entertained Glynhir GC last week and captain Rhodri Davies finally got off the mark with a hard-fought 1up win with his partner and club captain Fred Steel.

There was not such good news for vice-captain Huw Rees as he and partner Bruce Morris lost 1down, but there was an excellent 7&6 victory for George Laidlaw & John Bevan, a 3&2 win for Ryan Bowen & Peter Jones, 3&1 win for Gary Evans & Haydn Harries and a 2up win for Elwyn Morgan & Dennis Driscoll.

Ian Ritchie & Charles Maliphant got a half and Hywel Morris & Norman Edwards lost 5&4, meaning that the home team ran out 5.5-2.5 winners.

The remainder of the seniors took part in a Lone Ranger competition and there proved to be clear winners, with Rob Lincoln, Alan Edwards and Tom Lester coming in with an outstanding 85 points.

In second with 79 points were Dafydd Williams, Jimmy Myo and Wayne Morgan.

And a further two points back in third were Clive Thomas, Len Davies and Alan Williams.

This week all the seniors play for the Bill Naylor Salver 2. Jimmy Myo scored a hole in one on the seventh in the PC Evans Cup.
