British Legion headquarters The Legion building is open for the bingo every Monday-Thursday,Saturday and Sunday evening.Usually at 8pm.Admission 50p. Last bingo books 7.50pm.
Garden club committee There is a committee meeting of the Pembrey and Burry Port Gardening Club on Monday 20 May in the Community Hall, Pembrey, at 7pm. Litter Pick The Pembrey and Burry Port Grab and Bag volunteer group will be meeting at Burry Port Canal at Brynymor Road SN 438 007 on Friday, May 24, from 10am until noon. All equipment is provided but please be sure to bring a pair of gloves. As well as cleaning up our local areas volunteers can also sign up to receive time credits. Spring fair coffee evening The Ladies’ Fundraising Section of Burry Port Male Choir are holding their usual spring fair on Friday, May 24, at 6.30pm in the Memorial Hall, Parc y Minos Street, Burry Port. Stalls include homemade cakes, jewellery, bric a brac, toys, books, toiletries, accessories, tombola, new items and more plus raffles. Entrance of £2 includes tea, coffee or squash plus the added attraction of informal entertainment by the Burry Port Male Choir. All profits to help the choir which is a registered charity.
Family fun walk On Sunday, May 26, at 2pm the Pembrey and Burry Port Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care in partnership with Pembrey and Burry Port Town council are holding their first family fun walk. Fancy dress optional and a prize for the best dressed adult and child. The walk is from Burry Port Harbour to the Pavilion cafe Pwll and return. Registration from 1pm. Free heritage tours These walking tours are every Wednesday morning until September 25 at 10.30am from Cafe Lolfa, Stepney Road. Enquiries to 07946583110. Singing for the Soul This is on today and the first and third Wednesday of the month from 2.30pm to 4.30pm in Jerusalem Chapel Vestry. All are welcome. Group singing has a host of benefits like improving breathing, posture, mental health,confidence and self esteem. No experience necessary. Cost £3 per session to include refreshments. Car boot sales These continue
every Saturday, weather permitting, at the harbour field, Burry Port at £6 per car. Vans, cars with trailers, campervan and people carrier size cost £9. Large vans and trade sellers are £16. No more than two tables or additional tables are £2 each. No reservation of pitches as they are on a first come first served basis.Please do not set up or arrive before 7am for the benefit of volunteers and nearby houses. Please remove all unsold items and litter before you leave. Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care The Pembrey and Burry Port friends have a Meet with Us group on the first Tuesday of the month from 6.30pm to 7.30pm in Pembrey Church Hall, Randell Square, Pembrey. Come along and meet our friends group for a cuppa, a chat and maybe join our volunteer list and help us put the fun in fundraising. Refreshments and a raffle available. Ty Golau group This is a health and wellbeing group for people with slight memory problems,Alzheimer’s/dementia type illnesses and meets every Wednesday at Mynyddygarreg Community Hall from 10.30am to noon.Activities include reminiscence therapy,themed quizzes, sing-alongs, simple cookery and much more. Dads’ group Only Men Allowed dads’ group with staff member Ken every Wednesday afternoon from 1pm to 3pm at the Burry Port Family Centre in the Old Junior School Stepney Road Burry Port. Cefn Sidan U3A Meetings in May include Friday at 10.30am the cycle group meet at the harbour entrance by the Blue mussels. Also Friday at 6.45pm is the theatre trip to see Towards Zero. Monday at 2.15pm the main monthly meeting is Julia Evans on Lost Empires. Tuesday at 10.30am is the Welsh History group with Roger Price on Cambro-Normans in Ireland and the Short Walk group at 2pm are going on a mystery tour.Wednesday, May 22, at 10am the Long Walk is on the Mindfulness Trail. Thursday, May 23, the discussion group is at 11.10am at Peter’s house subject is Technology Too Fast? Monday, May 27, the drama group and Tuesday, May 28, the Silver Screen cinema trip are both cancelled due to the bank holiday. There is Welsh conversation every Friday afternoon at 2pm.Most meetings usually take place in the Memorial Hall annexe, plus various other venues as on the monthly schedule.
