Eleri scoops egg-cellent top prize after big response to Easter egg hunt

-

FOURYEAROLD Eleri Evans was the lucky winner of the Ymlaen Llanelli Easter Egg hunt.

For nearly two weeks during the Easter holidays, children were able to take part in a competition which saw them look for 10 wooden eggs hidden in businesses around Llanelli town centre.

Some of the eggs were placed in shop windows and others hidden in the shops themselves ensuring the task was not an easy one!

The competition was run in conjunction with Llanelli Library who gave out the entry forms.

They also housed the postbox for completed forms and handed out a crème egg to every child that managed to finish the trail and find all the eggs.

A total of 93 entry forms were posted back to the library with the overall winner being drawn at random by library staff.

The 10 businesses that took part were Rugby Heaven, Angie’s Baby Cwtch, The Works, Coast Kitchens and Bathrooms, The Fragrance Shop, Katherine’s Hair Salon, The Welsh Burger Company, Pandora’s Box, Joly’s Café and Michelle’s.

None of the businesses knew where the other eggs were hidden, much to the frustration of some of the children.

Eleri Evans, a frequent visitor to Llanelli Library, was the lucky winner of the hamper donated by The Works. She was very pleased that all of her hard work (helped by her mum and her two brothers Owen and Rhys) had paid off.

Ymlaen Llanelli Chair Lesley Richards said: “The competition was a great way to get people visiting the different businesses in town. Thanks to the library staff for doing most of the work and encouraging children to take part in the competition, it wouldn’t have been possible without them. Well done to Eleri and all the other children that took part.”

Martin Blackwell, manager of The Works who donated the hamper as a prize said: “Once again, the people of Llanelli were treated to a fantastic Easter event. The Works Llanelli were proud to donate the hamper prize for this year’s Easter egg hunt and really pleased with the footfall it drove into the store. Congratulations to this years winner, hope you enjoy the goodies Eleri.”
