Victory No.4 for Llechryd

-

THE Llechryd bandwagon continues to roll merrily along with a fourth win on the trot in division two of the Pembroke County Cricket League after they beat visitors Kilgetty by seven wickets.

As it stands John Curran and team-mates are a point behind leaders Narberth and have already drawn 23 points clear of Hook in third.

The infectious enthusiasm radiated by young skipper Curran is rubbing off on others as every player strives to do his bit for the side and hopefully help mount a promotion challenge.

The mainstay of the Kilgetty innings was opener Ross Hardy with 40, but when he was caught on the boundary by Curran the innings folded and the visitors were all out for 114.

Seamer Graham Keen snapped up 3-25 and there were two wickets apiece for father and son Peter and James Betteley and also Curran.

The home side had few problems overhauling the modest total despite suffering a couple of hiccups, notably when Johnny Lewis went for two and Rhys Beard got a golden duck.

Curran (32), who was bowled going for a big hit, and James Betteley (48no) shared in an opening stand of 55 and Joe Mansfield was unbeaten on 25.

Christian Phillips picked up two wickets.

Crymych won by six wickets against Haverfordwest 4ths in division four, with Richard Thorne (27no) and James George (33no) guiding their side to victory.

In the same division, Llechryd 2nds went down to a six-wicket away defeat against leaders Neyland 2nds. The Teifisiders posted 175 and the hosts got the runs for the loss of four wickets.

The main run-getters for Llechryd were Tom Beard (48) and Ollie Roberts (40).
