Jenkins header puts Seaside on course
SEASIDE defeated Ammanford 2-1 in the Carmarthenshire Junior League’s MJ Bush Cup at under-15 level.
Seaside started with a bang and within the first two minutes created an opportunity for Jac Jones, who hit the crossbar from 20 yards out with a rasping left-foot shot.
Ammanford, to their credit, settled down and played some good possession football.
But Seaside gradually got on top and won a corner after 30 minutes. And a pinpoint delivery from Josh Cole was met by a towering header by Tray Jenkins, who powered his header into the net.
The second half started well for Seaside, who showed some excellent passing and movement. They had made a tactical change at the interval and it was substitute Trystan Nunes who scored a wonderful goal, full of pace, power and precision.
After that, Seaside continued to dominate possession and created a few more opportunities, but the Ammanford keeper kept them in the game with some excellent saves.
An extra six minutes of stoppage time were played and this lifted Ammanford. They won a corner and managed to score a scrambled goal.
Ammanford pressed hard for an equaliser, but it was Seaside who had a breakaway, only for Connor Chester to hit the post.
Tray Jenkins was named man of the match.
