Salver lining for Thomas

A FIELD of 52 entered the Bill Naylor Salver 2 at Carmarthen Golf Club.

With the greens being at their fastest of the season it was always going to be a test.

As usual the competition was split into three divisions and in division 1 (handicap up to 16.4) the winner was Adrian Thomas with 39 points, followed by Tony Jones on 38 and Gary Evans one shot behind.

In the 16.5-20.4 category, Wynne Thomas came in with 40 points, not only clearly winning the division but also capturing the salver.

Back in second was Ian Ritchie with 35 and Ken Gealy was a further point behind.

In division three for the 20.5+ handicappers, the winner was Simon Barrett on 36 points, beating Mike Davies on countback, with Phil Webb third with 35 points.

Twos were recorded by Adrian Thomas, Tony Jones, Huw Phillips, Graham Williams, Gerwyn Davies and Peter Jones.

This week the seniors play for the Glyn Knight Cup.
