JONES BIDS FAREWELL TO RGC
FORMER Welsh international Mark Jones is leaving RGC after three years as head coach of the north Wales side.
The former Scarlets wing, who won 47 caps for Wales, announced his departure following the weekend Principality Premiership victory over Cardiff in Colwyn Bay.
He has helped establish RGC as a real force in the semi-pro top flight, while the highlight of his reign was the Welsh Cup triumph of 2017 when they beat Pontypridd in the final at the Principality Stadium.
Jones, from Builth Wells, previously spent five years as backs coach at the Scarlets.
He was also an assistant with Wales in 2012-13 and had a spell at Rotherham, ahead of joining RGC in 2016.
He said: “My three-year remit was to keep the team in the Principality Premiership and look at the performance development of the players. My biggest achievement is seeing the opportunities created for the players, especially this season.”
