PONTLLIW’S TIME TO TURN ON THE STYLE

NEEDING three points from the last two league games to claim the LTC Mobility Carmarthen­shire League division one title, Pontlliw turned on the style in winning 7-0 at Felinfoel.

Striker Adam Scott fired in a hattrick for Pontlliw. Liam McCann scored two goals, and there was one each for Danny Smale and James Howells.

Pontlliw completed their programme on a winning note, defeating Johnstown 3-1 in their away clash. Smale netted twice, and there was a goal for James Wills.

As the curtain came down on yet another season, it was announced that a new West Wales Premier League will be formed in season 2020-21.

The league will be made up of 14 clubs from the Carmarthen­shire, Neath, Pembrokesh­ire and Swansea Senior Leagues.

Five clubs from the Carmarthen­shire League have shown an interest in participat­ing – Bwlch Rangers, Dafen, Loughor Rovers, Pontarddu lais Town and Evans & Williams. Meanwhile, the Carmarthen­shire League is looking for a new general secretary as their current one, Colin Jenkins, is retiring after 15 years in the job. A former player and referee, Jenkins has devoted his life to football and was secretary of Burry Port club

Porth Tywyn Suburbs when they progressed from the local football ranks to the higher echelons of the Welsh League in the mid-1990s and early 2000s before he became secretary of the Carmarthen­shire League in 2004. As he has now decided to hang up his boots and pen, the league’s executive committee are looking for a suitable candidate to carry on his sterling work. Suitable candidates should ideally have some knowledge of football administra­tion and have IT keyboard skills and be conversant with social media and the use of apps. The closing date for applicatio­ns is Saturday, June 1. The league is also considerin­g applicatio­ns for the position of match day administra­tor which would involve liaising with clubs on match days regarding postponeme­nts and the recording of final scores.
