SOME of the most inspirational people in our county were recognised at the West Wales Community Awards.

The event, which took place last Friday at Parc y Scarlets, organised by WalesOnline, Llanelli Star and Carmarthen Journal, honoured tremendous feats of bravery, selflessness and determination, with awards handed out to a number of deserving individuals and groups after the work they have put in across the last 12 months.

The awards ranged from community and charity champions to sporting achievements, with winners of all ages being honoured at this annual event.

Entertainment during the evening was provided by Llanelli based choir Côr Lleisiau Hardd, who opened the event and South Wales function band The Wilderness, who packed the dance floor with their cool retro vibes.

Hosting the celebration was Carmarthen Journal and Llanelli Star editor Jonathan Roberts, and local Llanelli businesswoman and long term supporter of the awards, Louise Davies.
