Police pool resources to use station as base
DYFEDPOWYS Police has changed how officers work in the Towy and Gwendraeth valleys.
All neighbourhood policing officers and the Towy and Cross Hands area officers will now report for duty in Cross Hands in order to be briefed and deployed.
This will include officers travelling to the Llandeilo and Llandovery areas as a matter of routine, which in turn police chiefs claim will improve coverage within the Towy Valley area.
But the stations in both Llandeilo and Llandovery will remain open but only manned by PCSOs.
Superintendent Craig Templeton said: “By pooling the resources to one location, we will be better placed to utilise officers in order to provide the first class service we pride ourselves on and safeguard the community.”
“I have to ensure that resources are evenly spread and available to meet the demands of an ever changing policing landscape as part of our priorities.
“The switchboards, systems and paperwork once associated with policing are now available in the palms of our hands.”
