Food item do­na­tions To as­sist lo­cal res­i­dents in need of sup­port a food do­na­tions bank has been placed in the foyer of the Me­mo­rial Hall. Con­tri­bu­tions grate­fully re­ceived dur­ing open­ing hours. Fri­day, June 14 from 10am to noon. All equip­ment is pro­vided but please be sure to bring a pair of gloves. As well as clean­ing up our lo­cal ar­eas volunteers can also sign up to re­ceive time cred­its. Ev­ery­one is wel­come but chil­dren un­der 16 must be ac­com­pa­nied by an adult.For fur­ther in­for­ma­tion please ring 07971 131184.

St Mary’s Church will be hold­ing its an­nual sum­mer fete on Satur­day, June 22 at 2pm in the church grounds. Please note that this date has been changed from the orig­i­nal date. En­trance fee £1 which in­cludes tea or cof­fee. Stalls in­clude cakes, books, jew­ellery, bric-a-brac, clothes, toys, tombola, etc. Please come along and sup­port St Mary’s and pick up a bar­gain at the same time.

Free her­itage tours These walk­ing tours are every Wed­nes­day un­til Septem­ber 25 at 10.30am from Cafe Lolfa, Step­ney Road. En­quiries to 07946 583110. Singing For the Soul This is on Wed­nes­day, June 5 and the first and third Wed­nes­day of the month from 2.30pm to 4.30pm in Jerusalem Chapel Vestry. All are wel­come. Group singing has a host of ben­e­fits like im­prov­ing breathing, pos­ture, mental health, con­fi­dence and self es­teem. No ex­pe­ri­ence nec­es­sary. Cost £3 per ses­sion to in­clude re­fresh­ments. This is in as­so­ci­a­tion with the Pem­brey and Burry Port WI. En­quiries to Dawn on 07773 312033.

Probus Group The Burry Port and Pem­brey group met re­cently. The guest speaker was Alan Stephen Evans, the cur­rent ed­i­tor of Llanelli On­line and the Car­marthen­shire Times pro­vid­ing re­ports and pho­tog­ra­phy for an on­line lo­cal news web­site and so­cial net­works. Plus a mag­a­zine with 10,000 monthly dis­tri­bu­tion serv­ing Llanelli, Car­marthen­shire and world­wide on­line.He also con­ducts in­ter­views with British politi­cians, civil dig­ni­taries, busi­nesses and or­gan­i­sa­tions, mar­ket­ing the brand through pre­sen­ta­tions and events. He gave a most in­ter­est­ing talk on his work in the West Coun­try, Lon­don and more re­cently in Wales. He has been in­volved in ed­u­ca­tion for most of his work­ing life. From 1990 to 1992 he worked for the Romanian An­gel ap­peal as an aid worker. A vote of thanks was given by Trevor Sage. The next meet­ing is on Wed­nes­day, June 5 at the Ash­burn­ham Ho­tel.
