DJI GETS IN ON THE ACTION… CAM

CHINESE drone-maker DJI is muscling on GoPro’s world with the launch of a tidy-looking action camera, the Osmo Action.

It’s crammed full of neat features, and more-or-less matches GoPro’s Hero 7 Black spec-wise.

The Osmo Action betters the GoPro in one important regard; it has a colour screen on the front as well as the back, which makes it more useful for filming yourself.

Other than that it has two mics, live-streaming via an app, it’s waterproof, and can capture time-lapse footage, as well is up to 50-frames-per-second of video in 4K. It also boasts voice-activated controls.

Word is, also, that the digital image-stabilisation in the Osmo Action is better than in the GoPro, producing smoother video.

Price-wise the Osmo Action wins too – it costs £329, £50 less than the GoPro Hero 7 Black.

GALAXY S10 GETS A DATE WITH 5G

AND so, we have a date. Samsung will begin selling the 5G version of its flagship Galaxy S10 phone on June 7. And you can order one today.

The new version of the handset will cost £1,099, and is available locked to either EE or Vodafone.

The 5G network is the next generation mobile network, which promises much greater speeds of data transfer and better coverage. Existing 4G phones won’t be able to take advantage of these new features, though.

EE’s 5G network will be switched on on May 30, and it will offer 5G data plans, starting at £54-a-month.

It will initially be available in London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast, Birmingham and Manchester, with 10 more cities to be added later this year. More will follow next year.

Vodafone will launch its 5G network from July 3 in Glasgow, London, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Cardiff and Bristol.
