THE SE­CRET LIFE OF PETS 2 (U)

TAIL-WAG­GING se­quel to the award-win­ning 2016 com­put­eran­i­mated com­edy.

Mis­chievous ter­rier Max (voiced by Pat­ton Oswalt), pictured, and lol­lop­ing mon­grel Duke (Eric Ston­estreet) are fas­ci­nated when their owner Katie (Ellie Kem­per) falls in love with Chuck (Pete Holmes). The cou­ple get mar­ried and raise a baby boy called Liam, who Max vows to pro­tect.

The fam­ily vis­its Chuck’s uncle on a farm, where Max faces ca­nine-in­tol­er­ant cows, lack­adaisi­cal sheep and vi­cious foxes. Thank­fully, vet­eran farm dog Rooster (Har­ri­son Ford) helps Max to over­come his in­se­cu­ri­ties and un­leash the hero within.

Back in the city, pam­pered Eskimo dog Gid­get ( Jenny Slate), agrees to take care of Max’s favourite toy, Busy Bee, but the squeaky rub­ber play­thing tum­bles out of a win­dow and into the down­stairs apart­ment of a crazy cat lady.

JOHN WICK: CHAP­TER 3 – PARA­BEL­LUM (18) ★★★ ★★

THIRD in­stal­ment of the ac­tion­packed fran­chise about a grief­stricken hit­man who ex­acts re­venge for the butch­ery of his beloved beagle.

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) has been ex­com­mu­ni­cated from the

Con­ti­nen­tal Ho­tel in New York – a mem­ber­shiponly haven for the crim­i­nal un­der­world – by dap­per owner Win­ston (Ian McShane) af­ter he broke the rules and ter­mi­nated crime lord Santino D’An­to­nio (Ric­cardo Sca­mar­cio) on the premises.

The High Ta­ble, the guild of as­sas­sins which im­poses a strict moral code on the spilling of blood, au­tho­rises a $14m con­tract on John’s life.

Car­nage begins on the stroke of 6pm and John calls in a long-stand­ing marker with a crime syn­di­cate boss (An­jel­ica Hus­ton) to se­cure safe pas­sage to Morocco where he hopes to re­unite with fel­low as­sas­sin Sofia (Halle Berry), who now man­ages the Con­ti­nen­tal Ho­tel in Casablanca.

PAW PA­TROL: MIGHTY PUPS (U) ★★ ★★★

AN­I­MATED TV se­ries PAW Pa­trol, a top dog for pre-school­ers, bounds on to the big screen in a com­pen­dium of three pro­grammes in­clud­ing Top Wing and But­ter­bean’s Cafe.

Mighty Pups sees 10-year-old Ry­der (voiced by Jaxon Mercey) and his pups re­spond to an emer­gency at Moo Juice Dairy Farm where farmer Al (Ron Pardo) has tied a gi­ant he­lium bal­loon around his waist to clean the top of a grain silo.

Po­lice dog Chase ( Justin Kelly), pictured, snow res­cue dog Ever­est (Berkley Sil­ver­man), fire­fighter dog Mar­shall (Drew Davis), re­cy­cling dog Rocky (Sa­muel Faraci), con­struc­tion dog Rub­ble (De­van Cohen), air res­cue dog Skye (Kal­lan Hol­ley) and aquatic res­cue dog Zuma (Carter Thorne) com­bine their skills to re­turn the farmer to terra firma.

Later, Harold Humdinger (Chance Hurst­field) ac­ci­den­tally di­verts a me­teor to­wards Ad­ven­ture Bay. The im­pact close to the town im­bues the dogs – and Harold – with spe­cial pow­ers.
