Elmer the Elephant day Today the village library hosts a celebration of Elmer the Elephant from 4pm to 6pm in the Memorial Hall. It is the 30th

At the Community Council AGM on May 16, retiring chairman Deris Williams thanked all for their support during her time in post. She wished her sucessor in the chair, Councillor Elwyn Jones, Bancffosfelen, good luck for the civic year ahead. In a contest to be vice-chairman Councillor Meinir Collyer, Ashgrove, beat Gareth Harries, Bancffosfelen. Votes of thanks to the chairs and council clerk were given by Keith Evans. Carnival and Welsh cycle race On Saturday, June 15, Pontyberem will be a hive of activity with both the annaul carnival and a key stage of the Welsh Women’s Cycle Race taking place. At around 1pm that day the Welsh Women’s cycle race is due to feature through the village recreation park. From 2pm the park hosts the annual village carnival with children’s games and donkey rides with an array of other fun activities. Volunteers willing to lend a hand with one or both events should contact the council clerk in the Memorial Hall on 01269 871075.
