Give win­dows a makeover for tour visit

BUSI­NESSES in Car­marthen­shire are be­ing urged to give their shop or of­fice win­dows a makeover for the OVO En­ergy Women’s Tour.

The fi­nal stage of Bri­tain’s most pres­ti­gious women’s cy­cle race is tak­ing place in the county on Satur­day, June 15 and Car­marthen­shire Coun­cil wants to give the world’s top rid­ers a big wel­come.

Lo­cal busi­nesses, par­tic­u­larly those in com­mu­ni­ties along the route, are be­ing en­cour­aged to en­ter a com­pe­ti­tion to cre­ate a stun­ning win­dow dis­play.

The com­pe­ti­tion will be judged by coun­cil chair­man Kevin Madge and the win­ner will be an­nounced on its so­cial me­dia feeds on Fri­day, June 14.

Mr Madge said: “I would urge lo­cal busi­nesses to get into the spirit of the event and help make the fi­nal stage a real cel­e­bra­tion. I am look­ing for­ward to see­ing some spec­tac­u­lar win­dow dis­plays which will give the rid­ers a real boost as they race through the county.”

Stage six starts at Car­marthen Park, where rid­ers will com­plete a lap of the his­toric and re­cently refurbishe­d Velo­drome, and fin­ishes at Pem­brey Coun­try Park, tak­ing in the new, closed-road cy­cle cir­cuit on the ap­proach to the fin­ish line.
