SKIPPER SIGNS NEW REDS DEAL

-

LLANELLI Town skipper Joe Clarke has signed a new deal with the club.

His decision to remain with the Stebonheath Park outfit is a huge boost to the Reds as they prepare for life following relegation from the Welsh Premier League.

The midfielder was one of the players to emerge with credit during a difficult season for Llanelli, whose stay in the top flight ended after a total of just four league victories saw them finish bottom of the table.

Clarke has scored 25 goals in 85 Llanelli appearances and manager Andy Hill is delighted to have him on board as the Reds gear up for the new FAW Championship South.

He said: “We as a club are delighted that Joe has committed for the coming season.

“He is a key player in what we are trying to achieve here.”

The FAW Championship South has replaced the old Welsh League division one, with the FAW having made changes to the country’s league structure.

Llanelli will face local derbies against Cwmamman United and Ammanford Town, as well as renewing their rivalry with Haverfordwest County.

Llanelli have also been given a boost with the news that key defender Lee Bevan has put pen to paper on a new contract.

The club’s vice-captain said: “I’m delighted to sign another year with Llanelli Town, it’s a truly fantastic club with amazing people in and around it.

“I’m looking forward to playing in the new championship with some real cracking games to be played and with so many great teams around now.”

Llanelli are due to announce their pre-season friendlies in the coming weeks, while the fixture list for the new season should be ready this month.
