Champs off to a flyer

CEREDIGION Bowling Association champions Lampeter started the season on a winning note with an 83-53 victory at Aberystwyth.

Rink scores (Aberystwyth names first): Ian Pugh 11 Lewis Williams 29; Dai James 9 Hari Butten 22; Bertie Jones 16 Steve Entwistle 13. The most successful Lampeter rink was skipped by Lewis Williams and also included Ron Thomas, John Atkinson and Elfan James.

Runners-up Cardigan also started on a high as they sprang a 91-48 win over Aberaeron on the Gwbert Road green.

Rink scores (Cardigan names first): Marc James 22 Wyndham Jones 16; Kevin James 31 Dewi Morris 6; Paul Monders 21 Roger Jones 11; Andrew Clarke 17 Gwyn Jones 15.

The top Cardigan rink was skipped by Welsh international Kevin James accompanied by elder brother and club captain Colin, Mike Williams and Chris Rogers.
