Launch Men’s Sheds Cymru needs your help to launch Men’s Shed Cwm Gwendraeth. Retired, semi-retired or unemployed? Like the idea of doing or making things? Time on your hands? A Men’s Shed could be for you. The Men’s Sheds Cymru project is working with local residents to develop a group based in Cwm Gwendraeth. All we need are some like-minded people and some enthusiasm! Interested? Come along to Canolfan Carwyn today between 1pm and 3pm. Cinema The film showing at Cross Hands Cinema on Friday, Monday and Tuesday will be Tolkien (Cert 12A). Door open at 6.30pm with film starting at 7pm. Support your local volunteer-run facility where the admission prices are reasonable in comparison to venues in Carmarthen and Llanelli.

Football Drefach Under-15s are recruiting players for the 2019-20 season. An open training session will be held at the Old Gwendraeth School playing field on Saturday, July 20, between 10am and noon. For more informatio­n, please contact: hayesadria­n@gmail.com.

Cycle race The Ovo Energy Women’s Tour of Britain event will be passing through part of the village on Saturday. The race enters Drefach through Heol Blaenhirwa­un, turning left into Heol Tyisaf and then right along Heol Cwmmawr. The race is expected to pass through from approximat­ely 12.30pm. For a period of 40 minutes before this the relevant roads will be closed and there must be no vehicles parked along the route until the whole ensemble have passed through. In addition, people living in Bron Yr Ynn, Hen Ffordd, Uwch Gwendraeth and Cae Coch will not be able to exit their streets. Signs warning of the disruption have been on display for a few weeks. Bunting has been put up in locations along the route so enjoy this event.
