Se­nior Cit­i­zens Myny­d­dy­gar­reg Se­nior Cit­i­zens So­cial Club held their monthly meet­ing on Wed­nes­day, June 5. There were 27 present in­clud­ing of­fi­cers Jean Fox, chair­per­son; Marian Lewis, vice-chair; Chris­tine Hughes, trea­surer, and Regina Morgan, sec­re­tary. The meet­ing started with Jean Fox lead­ing us in the Lord’s Prayer. Min­utes of the May meet­ing were read by Regina Morgan and passed. Wel­come to a new mem­ber, Catherine Humphreys. There will be a cof­fee morn­ing on Fri­day, June 21. All mem­bers were asked to sell tick­ets and be present on the morn­ing. Pearl was thanked for mak­ing 10 more quilts to add to the 50 quilts al­ready dis­trib­uted to hos­pi­tals and women’s refuges, etc. The raf­fle was drawn and won by Dorothy and a game of bingo was also played. There were two guest speak­ers, serv­ing po­lice­women and Trudy, who spoke to ev­ery­one on the dan­ger of scams which are preva­lent at the mo­ment through­out the coun­try and fo­cus­ing mostly on the el­derly. The ad­vice was that if you re­ceive a phone call you don’t recog­nise, do not get in­volved in con­ver­sa­tion with the caller but put the phone down im­me­di­ately. Never give your bank de­tails over the phone. The po­lice­women were thanked for pass­ing on such use­ful in­for­ma­tion. The next meet­ing will be on July 3 at the usual time of 2.30pm. The tea hostesses will be Hazel Davies and Carol Smith.

Cof­fee morn­ing The Se­nior Cit­i­zens So­cial Club will be hold­ing a cof­fee morn­ing in Myny­d­dy­gar­reg Hall on Fri­day, June 21, from 10am to noon. Please try your best to sup­port this wor­thy event.

Only Mynydd Aloud Only Mynydd Aloud choir un­der the con­duc­tor­ship of Ioan Hefin, with Geraint Rees as ac­com­pa­nist, took first prize at the re­cent Myny­d­dy­gar­reg Eisteddfod. Well done.

Probus The June monthly meet­ing of Kid­welly Probus Club will be held on the fourth Wed­nes­day of the month at 10am in the Con­fer­ence Room at the rear of the Gwen­l­lian Cen­tre. The next meet­ing will be held on June 26 when a talk will be given on Joseph Parry by Colin Whel­donJones. Con­tact the chair­man on 01554 891241.

Bingo ses­sions are held at Clwb Rygbi Myny­d­dy­gar­reg ev­ery Wed­nes­day evening at 7pm. Come along and join the fun and maybe win a prize.

Exam time This is the sea­son for ex­ams of all cat­e­gories – GCSE, A-Level, col­lege ex­ams and fi­nals, etc. We wish ev­ery­one in­volved good luck; just do your best.

Get well Many of our vil­lagers are not in the best of health at the mo­ment. We wish them all a speedy re­turn to bet­ter health. Myny­d­dy­gar­reg Open golf tour­na­ment There are a few places still avail­able for the Myny­d­dy­gar­reg Open golf tour­na­ment that will be held on Satur­day, June 22, at Glyn Abbey Golf Club. All the pro­ceeds will go to Apêl Ail Gyfle/Sec­ond Chance Can­cer Ap­peal. Apart from the in­di­vid­ual and team prizes there will be a hole-in-one, long­est drive and near­est the pin prizes as well.
