JACK'S TAKING JOY ON THE ROAD

JACK Dee is returning to the stand up stage for his first solo tour in six years.

His new UK tour, Off The Telly, includes 38 dates and launches in September.

The famously grumpy comedian says: “In these difficult and uncertain times people need hope – a ray of sunshine to brighten their day ... and that’s very much where I come in.”

THE MERRY WIVES OF LEADERS

ZOE Wanamaker and Croatian actress Zrinka Cvitesic are to star in the world premiere of new stage drama Two Ladies by Dublinborn writer Nancy Harris.

The play focuses on the first ladies of France and the US when they find themselves alone in a side room as their husbands clash over an international crisis.

The production will run at the Bridge House Theatre in London from September 14. Go to bridgetheatre.co.uk for ticket details.

PIRATES ON A SCREEN NEAR YOU

THE operatic directorial debut of Vera Drake and Secret And Lies film director Mike Leigh can be seen on cinema screens this month.

His production of English National Opera’s The Pirates Of Penzance features the famous tongue-twisting patter song “I am the very model of a modern Major-General” which has featured on everything from Family Guy and Frasier to The Muppet Show and Star Trek – The Next Generation.

Originally broadcast live in 2015, there is another chance to see the Gilbert and Sullivan favourite on June 18. For cinemas, visit eno.org/enoscreen
