Saints mark su­perb sea­son

NEWLYCROWNED Cost­cut­ter League cham­pi­ons St Dog­maels cel­e­brated as nearly 70 play­ers, of­fi­cials and guests at­tended a suc­cess­ful pre­sen­ta­tion din­ner at Cardi­gan Golf Club.

As well as cap­tur­ing the league ti­tle for the first time since 2006-07 and for the 10th time in to­tal, the Teifi Es­tu­ary vil­lagers also reached the fi­nals of the J Em­rys Morgan Cup and Bay Cup and the re­serves lifted the Percy Eldridge Cup.

The tro­phies were pre­sented by first-team man­ager Steve Wil­liams, sec­re­tary Wyn Rees and club stalwart John Wal­ters.

The first team’s top scorer was Louis Hard­ing with 36, while the top scorer for the sec­ond team was El­liot Wigley with nine.

First-team player of the year was Rhys Jones, with skip­per Mark Newell win­ning the prize for sec­ond-team player of the year.

There were joint win­ners of the first-team play­ers’ player of the year, with Minda Min­dugas and cap­tain Ja­son Wil­liams shar­ing the award.

There was also a tie for the sec­ond-team play­ers’ player of the year award be­tween Luke Jones and He­fyn Lewis.

Sin­gles cham­pion Karen Bowen. When it comes to cap­tur­ing tro­phies the play­ers of Ta­farn yr Oen in the Cardi­gan Ladies’ Darts League take some beat­ing. Not sat­is­fied with re­tain­ing the league cham­pi­onship, they also cap­tured the five-a-side, four-a-side, three-a-side and pairs com­pe­ti­tions. Karen Bowen was crowned sin­gles cham­pion.
