Saints mark superb season
NEWLYCROWNED Costcutter League champions St Dogmaels celebrated as nearly 70 players, officials and guests attended a successful presentation dinner at Cardigan Golf Club.
As well as capturing the league title for the first time since 2006-07 and for the 10th time in total, the Teifi Estuary villagers also reached the finals of the J Emrys Morgan Cup and Bay Cup and the reserves lifted the Percy Eldridge Cup.
The trophies were presented by first-team manager Steve Williams, secretary Wyn Rees and club stalwart John Walters.
The first team’s top scorer was Louis Harding with 36, while the top scorer for the second team was Elliot Wigley with nine.
First-team player of the year was Rhys Jones, with skipper Mark Newell winning the prize for second-team player of the year.
There were joint winners of the first-team players’ player of the year, with Minda Mindugas and captain Jason Williams sharing the award.
There was also a tie for the second-team players’ player of the year award between Luke Jones and Hefyn Lewis.
Singles champion Karen Bowen. When it comes to capturing trophies the players of Tafarn yr Oen in the Cardigan Ladies’ Darts League take some beating. Not satisfied with retaining the league championship, they also captured the five-a-side, four-a-side, three-a-side and pairs competitions. Karen Bowen was crowned singles champion.
