Bronwydd pay the price as bowlers turn up heat

-

BRONWYDD were blown away by a superb bowling display as they went down by 10 wickets to Briton Ferry Steel in division one of the South Wales Cricket Association.

After two league wins on the trot, Bronwydd were full of confidence going into their game in Neath.

But it went wrong from the moment skipper Oli Furneaux lost the toss and the visitors were asked to bat first in bowler-friendly conditions.

The Bronwydd batsmen were completely blown apart by Daniel Williams, who finished with figures of 6-23. Tim Stephens took 3-27 and Furneaux was the only batsman to get into double figures with 23.

The home team bowled well, but poor shot selection and a little lack of application, topped off by a finalwicket run out, resulted in Bronwydd being all out for only 55.

Tea was delayed until the end of the match and Steel openers Lloyd Clement (22) and Jamie Griffiths (33) saw their team to a 10-wicket victory.

Coaches and players will be expecting a marked improvement when Bronwydd entertain local rivals Llandysul on Saturday at Cnwc y Deri.
